What is a traffic source?
A traffic source is, as the name suggest, one of your sources of traffic. Typical examples of traffic sources are:
Affiliate website
Email marketing account
Mobile/Web App
Subaffiliates
Partners
Ambassadors
By adding your traffic sources to Routy you will be able to see a breakdown of your conversions by traffic source, and even more detailed stats.
How do you set up a traffic source in Routy?
Adding and connecting your website/traffic source to Routy is extremely straightforward. On the sidebar, press Tracking and then choose Traffic Sources. Next press Add in the top right hand corner and follow the setup flow:
The Basics - Input your traffic source details and if relevant input the website URL
Important: If your affiliate links are on a website, be sure you choose the Website traffic source
Dynamic Parameters - Choose how you want Routy to generate your dynamic parameters
Install & Test Pixel - If you chose a website, add the pixel to your website's global header
Custom Domain (optional) - You can set up a custom domain if you want to have cloaked or branded links
Installing your Routy pixel
Note: This is only relevant if you set up a website as a traffic source
The Routy pixel is crucial for the following:
Seeing which pages your conversions came from
Capturing parameters such as the gclid, fbclid and msclkid to optimize your campaigns
If you are using Google Tag Manager, we recommend setting the tag to fire on all pages.
To set up the Routy pixel, copy the code provided to you by Routy and paste it on the global header of your website. We recommend setting your Routy pixel script to be one of the first scripts to load on your page.
Once the pixel is on the site, you can check the status of the Tracking Script by pressing on the top right button of your traffic source's page, as shown below.
Routy will then check if the tracking script works:
If the pixel is working correctly, you will see the message below:

Editing your traffic source
To edit a traffic source in Routy, head to the Traffic Source page and select the Traffic Source.
Press the Settings button and you can edit:
Traffic Source Name, Type and URL
Dynamic Parameter Prefix
Set up a Branded Link
