Routy allows you to pass additional parameters in your tracking links to gain deeper insights and connect your data across systems.
The three core parameters are:
Parameter A (pa)
Parameter B (pb)
External Click ID (cid)
To use these parameters, they must be appended dynamically to Routy links, which means you do not need to set up anything on Routy, only append the parameters to the Routy link.
Below is an example of a Routy link with these parameters appended:
So the value in this link are:
External Click Id = external_click_id
Parameter A = parameter_a
Parameter B = parameter_b
Parameter A and Parameter B
Parameter A and Parameter B allow you to classify and segment your traffic in any way that makes sense for your setup.
They are fully flexible and can be used to add context to each click.
Common Use Cases
Identify which section of a page generated the click (e.g. hero banner, comparison table, footer).
Track which type of button was clicked (e.g. primary CTA, bonus CTA).
Classify content type (e.g. evergreen page, review page, bonus page).
Distinguish traffic from specific posts or campaigns.
Pass a campaign name or ID
Run A/B tests and compare performance between variants.
You define the value of these parameters directly in your Routy link. Routy will store and report on them accordingly.
External Click ID
The External Click ID is used to sync Routy data with external systems.
This parameter allows you to pass a unique identifier from another platform into Routy.
Common Use Cases
Passing a customer ID from tools like Customer.io.
Passing a subscriber ID from your email platform.
Passing a username or internal user ID from your app.
Identifying which specific user converted for reporting or rewards.
By using the External Click ID, you can set up a webhook and send conversions from Routy back to users in your CRM, email tool, or internal system.
Viewing the Data
You can view data by External Click ID, Parameter A and Parameter B by using the Report Builder as shown below:
We also have a User Engagement Dashboard, which allows you to view data by External Click ID, so you can see your top users, which users are depositing multiple times or working with multiple brands etc.
Using Additional Custom Parameters
In addition to Parameter A, Parameter B, and External Click ID, you can pass as many custom parameters as you like.
You are free to define and name these parameters according to your needs.
However, please note:
Only the native parameters (pa, pb, external_click_id) are automatically available in the Routy interface.
Any additional custom parameters must be extracted and parsed via the Routy API
