What is a traffic source?
A traffic source is, as the name suggest, one of your sources of traffic. Typical examples of traffic sources are your affiliate sites, or an email marketing account.
By adding your traffic sources to Routy you will be able to see
- Page views (if it is a website)
- Clicks on your traffic source
- Conversions coming from your traffic source
If your traffic source is a website you will also be able to see which pages are driving conversions.
How do you set up a traffic source in Routy?
Adding and connecting your website/traffic source to Routy is extremely straightforward. Simply click on the Traffic Sources button on the left sidebar and click Add in the top right hand corner.
You will then be prompted to name your traffic source, select the source type and if you select the Website source type, input your website URL.
If you choose to add a Website source type you will need to input a tracking script into your website. It is highly important that you input this in the head section of your website, otherwise tracking will not work. You can find the tracking script by clicking on the relevant traffic source in the Traffic Sources section.
After you’ve added the tracking script to your site you can also check that it’s working using our heartbeat function.
Quick Tip: You might need to open the website in a new tab to get a confirmation that the heart beat is working
